Fall Out Boys Falls Out

Although Fall Out Boy was only reported as being on a break, Pete Wentz confirms on ultimateguitar.com that he was leaving the band for good. This also possibly is going to result in a perminant split for the band. Pete Wentz blames himself for the break up but he said the band just simply grew apart. They may continue without the lead bassiest but right now no one knows. After releasing their new album about a year ago and going on tour, the band seemed to be alright. I guess no one knows the drama going on inside the recording studio. Not many bands seem to be sticking together lately, due to a lot of solo prodjects. For as of right now though with Fergie and Will.I.Am with their solo prodjects, the Black Eyed Peas still are performing together. We will all just have to wait to see what the future holds.

Justin Bieber Blows Up

After being number one on the Billboard's charts, Justin Bieber's album My World 2.0 has shown great success since it's release date. It is predicted by MTV.com for Bieber's album to sell 500,000 more copies by next month. Also Bieber scheduled an arena tour this June that is said to be coming to Albany's Times Union Center. Many people have been asking ,"where is Bieber going from here?" Leah Greenblatt from Entertainment Weekly said that since Bieber is signed with Usher and is the same age as Usher and Justin Timberlake when they became stars, Bieber should follow in the footsteps of other pop stars. As long as Bieber continues to keep himself in the limelight he should be able to stay popular with everyone from moms because of his clean lyrics and teenage girls because of his appearance. Kings of Leon to Perform at SPAC

Just yesterday Kings of Leon tickets went on sale for their first appearance in the capitol region. Kings of Leon will play on June 6th at Saratoga Performing Arts Center after two nights of Dave Matthews. It will be hard to follow a show like Dave's but I think Kings of Leon will have a big enough fan base to not disappoint the turn out for the concert. Phish is also to return to SPAC this summer as well as county stars Sugarland. So far John Mayer is not scheduled to return to SPAC for the second year in a row. Last year John had to take time off to finish his album, but I think a lot of people were expecting him to return this year. Regardless SPAC has a pretty solid line up for this year.

Gorillaz Comback

After stating in 2006 in Uncut magazine that Gorillaz will no longer release music, AlbarnJamie Hewlett (the illustrator), and the rest of the band would travel to Syria to gather ideas for the new album, Plastic Beach. Damon came in the studio leaking three new tracks “Electric Shock“, “Broken” (my fav of the three), and “Stylo“.

'Stylo", one of the new songs is a collaboration with rappers Mos Def and Bobby Womack, appeared on YouTube today. It is the first completed track to surface from the record. You can listen to it here.

The animated group, helmed by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, are expected to release the follow-up to 2005 sophomore LP Demon Days, Plastic Beach this spring.

Plastic Beach will also feature collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, The Horrors and Barry Gibb.

There is no news on who produced the tracks or who is producing the album but some are already saying that Danger Mouse will not produce this album.

Biggest Concert Buzz?

After it being everyone's status on Facebook, it doesn't seem like Clifton Park could be more excited for the Dave Matthews Band concert this June. On the 4th and the 5th of the sixth month thousands of people will be anxiously waiting through the warm up band for Dave Matthews to begin playing. Inside seating for the upcoming concert sold out on the first day of sales (February 26). Even with John Mayer ,who came to Maddison Square Gardens in the beginning of the week, Dave still got more attention being about 4 months away. I think what makes Dave so popular is his fun loving band and overall attraction of the music. It is very relaxing and there is never a dull moment in any of the songs. With the tickets being around $50 each, it is pretty much affordable for the average high school student. If there are still tickets left I recomend studying some of the band's music and buying a ticket before it is too late.

They Tried to Make Me Go to Rehab, Again

Before Amy Winehouse can tie the knot,again, with her ex-husband, she is said by her ex Blake Fielder-Civil that she needs to get help for her alcohol addiction. Money can't be the singer's problem against rehab because she reportedly dropped 70,000 euros for a ten night stay in a hotel says music-news.com. Since the singer/ songwriter hasn't been on the charts or the radio lately, maybe Winehouse should save her money for an expensive hehab and not an expensive hotel. The reason for staying in the hotel was because of a mortage pending on a new piece of property she is trying to buy. Maybe that was a hint that her income isn't as steady as she thinks.

Lil Wayne Sentencing Postponed

A fire broke out just after 10:30am this morning (March 2) at Manhattan's Criminal Court where Lil Wayne was set to be sentenced. Now, the rapper's court case for attempted criminal possession of a weapon has been canceled.

There was a "little fire, but no Lil Wayne," David Bookstaver, a spokesman for the Office of Court Administration, told billboard.com

The fire broke out in the boiler room, which caused smoke to fill the lobby of the 17th floor Criminal Court building. Hundreds of people have been evacuated; three minor injuries have been reported with the fire.

Lil Wayne was to be sentenced to an expected one-year prison term for a gun possession charges stemming from a 2007 arrest. This is the second time the sentencing has been postponed. The first was due to dental surgery.

He later had this to say to his fans. "Yesterday i smiled,today i smirked,tomorrow i stop.............................thanks for your thoughts and prayers,they're needed. They kant lok up my heart bekuz y'all already have it on lok. ......thank u."

Lil Wayne Heads to Jail

After successfully having the highest selling album in 2009, Lil Wayne will spend the peak of his career behind bars. After pleading guilty in October 2007 to gun charges, Wayne will soon be sent to serve his time. According to Behind the Music, after a concert in Manhatten, police officers climbed onto Waynes tour bus and arrested him right there after finding a loaded gun on board. Jail will not slow Wayne down though. He is said by Yahoo news to have recorded seven music videos with many different artists in one night. Wayne's "grill" has helped him push back his sentence time because of a surgery he had on his teeth. Wayne will carry out his sentence in city jails instead of a state jail. Everyone is waiting to see what Wayne comes back with.

Coldplay's All Work and No Play

According to producer Brian Eno, Coldplay will have another album released at the earliest by Christmas. Eno says, " It could be (ready). It's quite different than anything they have done before...so far anyway. I don't know how it will end up being, but it's very fresh." Returing to work with the band after Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Eno is said to have lead singer Chris Martin working with out his band mates. Eno said that in order to create ,"lots of combinations" for songs, you have to pair up different people in the group to work together. Although on tour in South America, Coldplay has already begun working on and recording their new album in a London Studio. DJ Earworm has created another monster called, "Blame it on the Pop". This song features 25 hit songs of 2009 that were on the Billboard's charts. From Lady GaGa to Kelly Clarkson and Kings of Leon, DJ Earworm created a genious song that puts together pop, rock, rap, and hip hop all in one song. Over 25 years ago the first "We Are The World" was written by Micheal Jackson and Lionel Richie. It was first created for the USA for Africa charity. After the recent tragedy in Haiti, over 90 artists came together to remake the single and begin a new charity for the people who suffered the earthquake in Haiti. Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti, helped to reproduce the song with other executive producers Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici. The Black Eyed Peas' newest album The E.N.D. released on June 9, 2009 is becoming increasingly popular. Starting with the first single, "Boom Boom Pow" continuosly stayed on the Billboard Top 100 for 12 weeks straight. With "I Got a Feeling" following shortly, these two singles helped keep the band on top of the charts for 26 weeks in a row, greater than any other group so far. The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) is explained on iTunes as filled with 1980s club beats with hints of retro futurism. It consists of 15 tracks with no features with any other artists. The E.N.D. will continue to progress now with the newest single "Imma Be" that is sure to remain high on the charts.

Electronic Music on the Rise

The bands Passion Pit and Phoenix are more popular than you would expect. Electronic style music has become more and more popular over the past few years. The feel good beats and uptempo music makes people feel relaxed and free spirited. Phoenix's 1901 is number 122 on iTunes' top 200 songs. 1901 has also made it into a commercial for the new 2010 Cadillac SRX. Passion Pit's Sleepyhead has also made it into a commercial for the new Palm Pixi. Both bands have released new albums somewhat recently. Passion Pit's "Manners" was released June 9, 2009, and Phoenix's "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix" was released May 12, 2009. Some people may not like the somewhat new genre of music, but I have a feeling these two bands will continue to become more popular.

Obama Gets Fit To Jay-Z

Famous rapper Jay-Z said President Barack Obama was among his biggest fans and that he frequently played the artist's explicit tunes while exercising.

The 10-time Grammy Award winner stated in an interview with BBC Friday that the President enjoys listen to Jay-Z's new album, The Blueprint 3 while working out.

"Barack loves hip hop. When I called him he was playing Blueprint in the gym," the star said.

Jay-Z also stated in the interview that he has been invited to the White House on several occasions.
But he hadn't had time to pay him a visit. He had this to say.

"Hopefully we'll keep him in for eight years so I'll have time to get there."

Bonnaroo Festival

On February 9, the lineup for the 2010 Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, USA was announced on the festival's website. Scheduled for June 10-13, the festival will feature headliners Jay-Z, Kings of Leon, Stevie Wonder, and Dave Matthews, as well as dozens of other artists.

Among other acts set to perform are Weezer, Norah Jones, LCD Soundsystem, The xx, and She & Him.

Tickets for the 2010 festival went on sale February 9 at noon EST. A limited number of general admission tickets are still available at $234.50. After that round sells out, tickets will go for $249.50. Payment plans are available for both general admission tickets and for VIPs, which are $1,349.50 per pair.

Alternative Route

For everyone who doesn't really know alternative music too well, here are some bands that sound like more famous bands:

1. As Tall As Lions lead singer sounds like Chris Martin of Coldplay, but the band sounds more upbeat than Coldplay.
2. Not too much on vocal sound, but the way their music is played and performed, OAR can be compared to Dave Matthews Band because of all the instruments that are used and for the period of time they are used in one song.
3. The band Pepper sounds almost identical to Sublime and because of the vocals and the overall music of the band.
4. Red Light Knights and Needtobreathe both have the same rock genre and raspy singers like Kings of Leon.
5. For fans of City and Colour, Damien Rice has the same acoustic theme but slighty different vocals.

Since it's Valentine's Day, well more like night, I figured to post a song that I love and that has to do with just celebrating life. Two Step by Dave Matthews Band is one of those songs that it doesn't matter how long it is, as long as it's playing everyone is happy and everyone enjoys it. At some concerts, Two Step can be up to 13:00 long. But from experience, from when the song begins, to the very last note, there is never a silent moment in the crowd. Dave Matthews Band has been entertaining for more than 10 years starting from when they got together in 1991, and hopefully they will be around for 10 more.

How Much is Too Much?

How much are you willing to pay for a concert? Tickets for the up and coming Jay-Z concert on 3/2, the most expensive ticket is priced at $15,000 on floor 3. After all of the Blueprint 3 hype is over, is this too much ? Lady GaGa's concert tour in London isn't as pricey as Jay's but is still a lot for about 3 hours of entertainment. The most expensive ticket is $1,024 for the lower tier. According to Stubhub.com Taylor Swift's Fearless Concert tour with Kellie Pickler, the most expensive ticket is selling for $10,900. Considering that Kellie Pickler didn't even win American Idol, is this amount of money even worth the show that you would be seeing? The most I've ever paid for a concert ticket was $52.50 and that was Dave Matthews at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, this proves that great concerts do not need to be so expensive.
